Throughout the country, Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) Medical Centers implement a special program annually known as “National Salute” during the week of February 14. The National Salute Program was established as an official program in March of 1978. The purpose of the program is to pay tribute and express appreciation to America’s Veterans, increase community awareness and the role of the medical center, and encourage citizens to visit hospitalized Veterans and to become involved as Volunteers.
I will be volunteering a cabaret performance at the VA New Jersey Health Care System, Lyons Campus, Wednesday, Feb. 13, at 7:00 p.m.
